My First Mommy/Daughter Event

I remember holding Thing 1 in my arms when she was just a baby and thinking about all the fun times that we would have together. And being the Primary Junkie that I am, Mommy/Daughter Dates topped my personal list of highly anticipated events to come.

I don't mean to sound like a broken record, but really, how could that day have already arrived???

As I looked over the invitation I received for the event, I was a bit giddy and a bit sad. The day had finally come when I would be taking my very own daughter to a mommy/daughter event, and I was so excited. But that excitement came with the acknowledgement that my little girl is growing up.
Anyhow, I worked through all my emotions and today we went to the party. And I have to say, it was so fun. I was so excited to go to the church and be with my daughter and play games and talk and laugh and visit with other friends and eat lunch ... it was wonderful.

The fantastic ladies that planned the event did a great job ... we had a little beach party sans the beach. I guess in Utah you get pretty good at imagining beaches. We played beachball volleyball, had a relay race in flippers with an apple held between your legs (try and figure that one out), played Beach Blanket Bingo, had a tasty little lunch and made seashell bracelets ... really now didn't those ladies do a great job?

I wish I would have snapped a few more photos - oh well! This was a cute one of some girls having fun with some of the props. I really wish I had video of the flipper relay race - that was just too much!
Thanks Thing 1 for going with your old mom and making it so much fun today. I am really enjoying watching you grow into beautiful young lady, you are such a wonderful daughter, I don't know what I would do without you. Thanks for being my girl.
And now I am already looking forward to next year's event because I will get to attend with not just one, but two daughters - and we are already planning on Aunt Debbie going with us ... what do you think Aunt Debbie? Is it a date?

So much fun. No Mommy-Daughter events for me. Seriously impressed with the amount of work and creativity that went into that activity. Happy Mother's Day.

What a neat opportunity! I can't wait to go to one with my daughter. My hubby got all the fun by going to father/son events. It's my turn! Looks like a wonderful event.
