Wax Museum

Last week was a most eventful week. Not only were we preparing for Thing 2's b-day and baptism, but she also had a fun school assignment to prepare for. It was a living wax museum and the kids were to study someone's biography and then come to school as that person and give a little speech as though they were that person.

Seriously, what a great assignment!!!

Anyhow, Thing 2 was:

And if you aren't sure who she is, here is her sign:

We worked hard on her speech all week, and she had it down. But I think she might get a little bit of stage fright, because this is what happened when I pushed the button for her speech:

(she gets that from me!!!)

Anyhow, she worked hard and did a great job and I am so proud of her!!!

(And for the record, all of the kids did a great job - it was really fun to go through them all and learn more about some great historical figures ... George Washington totally rocked the house!!!)

And now, I need to pay my respects to one of my favorite Little House faces ...

Merlin Olsen

I just found out he died, and I wish to thank him for being part of such a great show. We grew up with these shows and enjoyed them to no end. And my dad would always remind us that Mr. Olsen was a big-time football player who started out at Utah State University when my dad was there. And he played a few intramural games with him from time to time! Very cool!

May he rest in peace.

(And for your peace, DO NOT google images with this "Merlin Olsen Little House" in your search field - just warning ya. Thanks Mary-Kate and Ashley for getting your ta-tas out there for us to see!!! Blech!)

We were totally dissapointed that we missed her baptism! We knew it was her birthday but did not put 2 and 2 together until it was too late! Ahhh, so sorry, Cooper wanted to be there.
What a cute laura...good job Momma.

My two oldest have done this and we had a lot of fun with it. She is too cute. And I get scared in front of a crowd too.

He was a great man! I loved Little house on the "primary" as my daughter calls it! And we still watch it on Ch. 11. And I loved the wax museum project too! They all did awesome!

P.S. Your music makes me want to watch Little House right now :o)

K did this last year and was Abraham Lincoln. So much fun! I am a huge Little House fan:)

Awwww, well, how are they supposed to recite anything with other kids doing the same thing at the same time! At least that's what it sounded like. She was an adorable Laura, but to have to compete with so many others at the same time, that must have been distracting. And yes, we will miss Merlin... a seemingly kind and gentle soul.

My 2nd grade son did a Wax Museum at the end of February. All 3 of my boys have participated in it and it's always cool to see what they learn.

We got to do that last year..it was a lot of fun. Jared was Sir Edmund Hilary. I was surprised how many white Obamas there are in the 3rd grade in Layton Utah....you could tell it had just been an election year.
