Trying to Be a Father

"You will find that if you really try to be a father, your child will meet you halfway."

 ~Robert Brault

How grateful I am for having a dad who always tried! I always felt loved, I felt secure in his world, I knew I belonged to him, and I knew he wanted me there. He might not have been perfect, but he was the perfect dad for me. Perhaps that is what has made his parting bearable, knowing that he tried. Because of that, I knew that he loved me, and that's all I needed.

And how grateful I am for a husband who loves his children. I can see how they long for his love and attention, I can see how much it means to them. I can also see how it is shaping their lives for good. But enough about me, what do the kids think?

Thing 1 - "I love that he takes me to do fun things."

Thing 2 - "I love how fun he is."

The Boy - "I love him since he's silly."

The King -  "indecipherable babble" ... (But I know that he LOVES when daddy comes home.)

Happy Fathers Day to all the dads out there.
