Last Saturday, as Bert was heading out the door for work, he gave the kids some instructions. He told them to have all the leaves raked up before he got home from work. There was a slightly giddy response to his assignment, not the usual response to chore announcements. I tried to quickly cover their smiles and smirks and let Bert know that I would make sure they got all that hard work done today, even though Aunt Debbie was coming over with a few of our new cousins.
And Bert was out the door.
A few hours later Debbie arrived with the girls and soon we found ourselves outside getting to "work".
So, the "work" got done and dad came home from work to find big pile of leaves waiting for the street sweeper (tax money very well spent in my book). Bert was very impressed with all of our hard "work" - let's keep it that way!
And just because that's how we are, we might just stroll on over to the neighbor's and get her leaves into the gutter also!
