It's that time of year ... Bert's Birthday (on August 1st)!
So, how do I say Happy Birthday to the man I love, my main squeeze?
Perhaps I post pictures of his younger years...
Here he is just a few little weeks old - just like our Peanut!
And he loved to go to the farm - his Grandpa had a farm in Idaho. He has some great childhood memories there. That's him with his older sister Aimee - cute braids!
This is him with his Eagle Scout award - he worked so hard on his project (as they all do) - rebinding all the hymn books for his congregation. Just a few months after he had completed the work, new hymnbooks were printed and all of the old (newly rebound) hymnbooks were taken away! I guess some things don't last forever - but we still have the book press he used - maybe Peanut or The Boy will follow in their father's footsteps. Don't you love the wallpaper in this picture - metallic silver and leaves - oh, the seventies!!!
Here's Bert's family - yes, it's a big one. If you can't figure out which one he is, he's the tallest kid, sporting some really great 80's hair and I love the polo - real men can wear pink, right? And if you haven't counted, or can't count that high, there are 10 kids: Aimee, Brady, Corey Whitny, Katie, Johnny, Tony, Ryan Shelley, Linsey (that's a fun list to go through quickly) - Mom and Dad had their work cut out for them.
Back to the original question, how do I say "Happy Birthday" to the man I love.
I guess I could write him a poem:
Roses are Red and
Violets are Blue
I can't think of anything but
Happy Birthday to You.
I'm still in a bit of a post partum brain cramp - maybe by next year the creative juices will be flowing.
So ... in my fog, I went to the store and bought him a new alarm clock! He will be able to wake up to the sounds on his IPod now! That should be fun. Now, if I could figure out how to put music on his IPod - that would be a nice gift, to download some of his favorite things for him, hmmmm!
Thankfully, he is aware of how braindead I am this year and he pretty much took care of himself by getting invited to participate in this:
He has wanted to do this for years. This year he found out they were short on bassists and was able to get an invitation to participate, no cost to him! I don't think he could think of a better way to spend his birthday than learning from some great Jazz Musicians and jamming with his peers. I am going down with him to have a little break and listen to whatever little I can - little Peanut will be with me, so we'll see what I can do.
Anyhow, Happy Birthday to the man I love! Next year ... Spain, right?
Anyone out there have cheap tickets to Spain?
