1. I started out by going to a lunch with some really fun ladies that I have met through Bloggyland. Unfortunately, I didn't really pay attention to the location of the restaurant we were going to meet at and I ended up driving around for a little while (30 minutes to be more precise).
So I arrived to find everyone situated and eating, but they were very forgiving of my tardiness and I joined right in!
This is Tink, who made sure I knew about it in the first place, such a lovely, nice, fun person, it was great to meet her in real life.
This is all of us who attended, and thanks to the sweet little baby there was a three generation showing in the group. I had a great time meeting some wonderful ladies and look forward to getting to know them even better ... and hoping to be able to attend future gatherings ON TIME!
2. We decided to keep the meals simple and just put some cereal out for the kids to eat all weekend - they were ecstatic!
Okay - we were actually working on a little school project for Thing 2's class. They needed two big bags of Fruit Loop like cereal separated out by color.
It was a pretty big project, but the kids did a great job - I hope they have fun with it at school - I am sure they will.
3. Then there was some bird watching ... my favorite hawks are back in town, they come through our neck of the woods for a few weeks every year. I love to see them perched up in those tall trees looking for lunch.
Bert and possibly myself and The King have Strep throat, so we stayed home from church so as to not share. By the afternoon we were all going a little stir crazy and had to get out. We ended up driving around looking for more birds. I didn't bring my camera with me, unfortunately, because we found 5 bald eagles sitting up in some trees. We also saw a bunch of Northern Harriers - they are very fun birds to watch.
4. And of course, today is the day ... and Bert really got into the spirit of things for our Salute to the Steelers dinner of Pittsburgh Pork Chops and Potatoes, with Heinz Stadium ketchup, then there was the "Mean Joe Green Jello Salad" - named so by Bert himself. And we were able to top everything else off with a bucket of popcorn in a Steeler's Tin sent by my wonderful sister. The kids love the cheddar popcorn, just so you know.

Sounds like a fun weekend, 2 questions-how did you keep the boy from eating 50% of the cereal? and 2-is Bert happy that the Steelers won? Glad they liked the Cheeder popcorn.
I had a blast at lunch! It was so fun to meet you in person! Thanks for being such a sweetheart! ♥ Hugs :)
It was wonderful meeting up with you! As soon as you walked up to the table, I knew who you were...I'm glad you made it and were able to find us! Wahoo! You're even more amazing in person! Let's do it again soon!
It was so much fun meeting you! I swear I know you from somewhere though. I can't figure out how though.
