You'll Be a Lady Soon But Until Then ...

"And I would never try to make you be
Anything you didn't really want to be
Gracie girl
Life flies by in seconds
You're not a baby Gracie, you're my friend
You'll be a lady soon but until then
You gotta do what I say...
...One day you're gonna want to go
I hope we taught you everything you need to know
Gracie girl"
"Gracie" by Ben Folds

I can't help but cry everytime I listen to this song ... something about that image of my girls being darling little babies, toddling around, climbing in and out of my arms, holding them until they fell asleep ... and now they are growing, growing, growing.
Where does it go?
My firstborn is now 9 ... as of yesterday.
She's a strong, beautiful, intelligent girl.
More than anything, she wanted to hike with her Daddy for her birthday,
she ended up hiking his tail into the ground.

She was unbelievably thrilled with the simple gifts she received,
they were just what she wanted and she was so sweet in receiving them.

And then there is the whole mouth thing ...
yes, that big old contraption on the previous post is her head gear.
After expanding her upper jaw for the last month,
she now gets to sleep with this on for the next few months
{{{gigantic ugh on her behalf}}}
... but it will be well worth it.

That's my big-eyed girl (can't call her baby big eyes anymore, I guess).
Love you darling ... even if you keep growing older and more independent!
It's all wonderful ... You are wonderful!

Such a cute daughter you have. At least she only has to wear her head gear at night.
