He's a Man!

"People grow through experience if they meet life
honestly and courageously.
This is how character is built."

~ Eleanor Roosevelt

This week, Bert's cousin returned home from a two year mission to Ghana.

I keep looking at him and wondering how he went from a darling little blonde-haired boy
to a MAN? (still quite cute, though)

Seeing him and listening to him talk about his experiences in Ghana has left me thinking
about the poem "If" by Rudyard Kipling.
He's grown so much over the past two years, it's just so crazy!

He and his brothers hold a special place in my heart, maybe that is why this is all so tender to me today.
When I was dating Bert, his cousin was pretty young.
It was my pleasure to run into him and his two little brothers EVERY SUNDAY at church.
They would wave at me and say "hi" in their shy little way!
It's just amazing that three little guys could help me feel so welcome to the family.
And who couldn't help but melt at the sight of the most darling, sweet boys on the planet
being so excited to see them?

Well, I am that much of a sap and I adore these boys that, well, are turning into MEN!

My Goodness!

Welcome Home Jake!

It amazes me also how changed a youngman is when he returns home from a mission.
