Don't Forget Fido

One of the best parts of Christmas is the baking!
(As my belly can well attest to.)

And today, for the first time ever, I baked for my doggie.
(And I think I will do it again.)

We had a school assignment to make dog biscuits
for a local animal adoption center.
(By we, I mean Thing 2 and 2 boys from her class.)

We spent an hour mixing and baking
(and putting up with lots of silliness)
and they actually turned out!
(This I know from the fact that my dog was able to sneak a few of them from off the counter when they were cooling -
naughty dog!)

Here is the recipe we used:

Homemade Dog Biscuits

Ingredients:
1/3 cup margarine, softened
1 cup oatmeal
3 1/2 cups flour
1 egg
1/2 cup milk
1 cup chicken broth
1 cup shredded cheddar cheese

Method:
Mix the margarine, oatmeal and 1 CUP of the FLOUR until it is crumbly. Stir in the egg, milk and chicken broth. Add another cup of flour. Stir in cheese. Add the remaining flour and stir until it is well mixed.
Sprinkle a rolling pin and rolling surface with more flour. Roll out dough until it is 1/2 inch thick and cut into shapes with cookie cutters. Place shapes on GREASED cookie sheets. Bake at 325 degrees for 25-30 minutes.
Let cool completely. Store in a brown paper bag in the refrigerator to keep them fresh!

Impressive. Did you give 'em a try? Your pictures look great. Where did you take them?
