Gained Something Else

“For everything you have missed, you have gained something else, and for everything you gain, you lose something else.”

~ Ralph Waldo Emerson

This week we set out on a little adventure to see the last testing of the space shuttle boosters.
So did a lot of other people!

Since the long line of cars prevented our getting to the view area, we MISSED the firing.
The Boy was pretty disappointed.
(okay, okay, we all were disappointed)

However, we GAINED a great view of the smoke cloud that resulted.

And we also GAINED the pleasure of running into some friends there for the same purpose.

And we GAINED the chance to go out to lunch and spread a thick layer of raspberry butter on everything we ate (or just licked it straight from it's cup).

And we GAINED the discovery of a new adventure ... in the form of a bird refuge.

(see the smile that came back to his face?)

So, I guess now we'll have to make a trip to Florida so we can see the real thing!!!

Such a positive outlook on the situation and a great lesson for the kids. I love that little almost-smile sneaking back on the boy!

We thought about going to this just for the fun of it and I was kind of glad we didn't attempt it after I saw how many people showed up for it on the news! One day we'd like to make that trip to Florida too. Ditto on the HA!
