To those of you who thought we should have just caught the racoon and made him into a coonskin cap (namely Dave) - I guess you were right! Today we found out that the racoon died in my neighbors window well. He must have crawled there after the Scrub Jay Fiasco and waited to die (look back a few posts for that account). They found him yesterday because of the stench, as he had been dead for quite some time, full of maggots, none the less. Poor Racoon! He is now buried in their backyard, and if anyone wishes to pay their respect, I am sure they wouldn't mind you stopping by.
