These Are The Things You Don't Say To Your Wife!

While I was cooking dinner after church today, the following conversation ensued:

Bert: So, do you like that blouse you're wearing?
Jenny: Uh, yeah, that's why I bought it. Why, don't you like it?
Bert: Well, it's okay, but I like your white blouse.
Jenny: I like my white blouse, too. But I'm not going to wear it everyday.
Bert: But it looks really good on you, it has a really nice cut.
Jenny: I'm not arguing with you about the blouse, that's why I wore it in the pictures we just had taken. But, I do need to wear other things ...
Bert: I know, but this blouse doesn't fit as nice,
Jenny: (quickly interrupting) ... "These are the things you don't say to your wife"

(A little background now) That is the title of a song by Christian Comedian Tim Hawkins. We just heard it for the first time the other day and I think it is appropriate to inject the Youtube video of it here, so you can get the full effect.

Continuing the conversation now:

Bert: You know, our relationship is built on honesty.
Jenny: Yes and being kind to one another.
Bert: I'm kind ... I complimented you on how well the white blouse looks.
Jenny: KIND of a jerk!

Yes, this is how we come home from church - Heaven Help Us!!!
But, dinner was yummy :)

All Primary I wanted to tell you how much I loved your shirt! I love the square neck line, and the green is such a great color to wear in to the fall and winter! I should have given you the compliment I was thinking so you could have fired it back at your loving husband!

That sounds like a "man compliment". That's what I call a compliment that really isn't. I've never gotten one from a female. Thus the name. The best man compliment that I ever got was from my older brother when he said, "That dress doesn't look any worse on you than it would on anyone else!" Oh well. We still love our men...even when they don't know how to give proper compliments;)

Oh boy. The sad part is that they don't really ever learn. Hmmm, I wonder if the 'judgement' area of their brain is actually anatomically different. Or maybe I'm just making more excuses for them! Either way, I'm sure it looked fabulous on you!
