Our Resident Artist

We appreciate the arts in our home. One of our prized possessions is this print by the artist Joan Miro, a spanish surrealist. I can't just say painter, because he created art from many different media, more than I can even think of right now.
I share all of this because I think The Boy has been quite influenced by the art of Miro. Here is a little tour of his artistic endeavors:
This is one of his earlier pieces, circa summer, 2008, it "hangs" in our Front Room:
"Roller Coaster"
Here is something from his Realism phase:

"The Whale"
Now he starts to venture into other media, very Miro-esque I would say:
"Locked"
He shares his artwork with his sisters - such a kind brother:

"Farko"

He is getting bolder with color:

"Foogs"
And his masterpiece (also "hanging" proudly in our Front Room)

"Savannah's Dad"
(he's trying to get in good with his future in-laws, I think)

And we are sharing these works of art with the fabulous photo carnival
hosted by THAT Family!

Well, you definitely have one big artist on your hands. When I was little, I used to write my name on EVERYTHING and I would sooo get in trouble for it because I was writing on my brother and sisters things. Well, they say, practice makes perfect and he'll be a perfect Picasso!

My son wrote all over our walls with a black sharpie marker. Did you know that Murphy oil soap got it off??

I think someone may have read him "Harold and the Purple Crayon" a little too often. ;)

As supportive as I am of children's artistic expression, I think my kids would be running for cover if they took it to the walls and furniture!

Gotta love Mr. Clean Magic Eraser:) Or not. My kids once did art imitating life, kind of, when they were in my closet spray painting eachother, wait for it, GOLD! I only wish in my panic stricken state I would have thought to take a picture. But I didn't so you'll only get to imagine. It was quite funny! Just like two little gold cherubs

I love the tribute to your dad on your sidebar.

I know this day is fast approaching in our house, and I am dreading it! Why don't kids like to draw on paper?

Love the "title" you came up with! Kids require a sense of humor, don't they? :-)

Yikes! I would be floored. The worst one of kids did was use a pencil on his bunk bed..."It looked like it needed some sprucing up, Mom!"

It's great that you keep your sense of humor about it!

That first one looks similar to your piece of art by Miro ...
