NO! Actually it's ... $323!!!

That could feed my family for a month (well, kind of)!

So, all I can say is that just isn't going to happen.
But don't worry about her, I'll get creative and think of something!

(and I'll be making a phone call to American Girl to request that they STOP sending the catalogs to my home ...
I found two hidden under her matress today ... silly girl!)

Oh Jenny, Hanna wants the same two things!!!! I paid soooo much for that doll, but could not bring myself to pay for the dress--she wanted the St. Lucia dress. So, got the doll, but sorry about the clothes!

Yep, I'm a sucker:-).

This post is HILARIOUS!!

Man. Sometimes it would sure be nice to be made of money! Have you seen those Best Friends Club dolls? They're new this year and I think they are a lot like American Girl...at least in the way they look. I saw them for 25 dollars at WalMart.

Good luck!

Too funny about the catalogs. My son has catalogs and magazines with all sorts of things circled on them. Of course his request is a PSP and an Ipod touch. Ya, like those are in my budget! It's hard and the requests only get more unrealistic as they get older:( What's a Mom to do? I say, get the doll and then she can make her peace with the outfits and accessories. Hey, maybe it will be something she'd be willing to work for. I honestly have to say that K has saved almost $200 to go toward his ipod in case Santa doesn't deliver:) It's taken him a year and a half, but I think it teaches them some good values. Just a thought. At least if she gets one thing on her wishlist she won't feel too jipped;)

who signs us up for these things anyway? I got one this week too! Kaitlyn, who doesn't even LIKE TO PLAY WITH DOLLS, wants one. And by the way mom, her name is Maggie....(or something like that. the one with glasses.) When I told her it might not happen she said: "Well, I'll just ask Santa." Good luck dear. :)

Jenny,

I grew up loving the American Girl Collection. But wow... those prices are OUTRAGEOUS!!!

Good luck! Thanks for sharing! I knew they were expensive but really...

I don't know how you could let a child PLAY with a doll that expensive without worrying about losing the $30 miniature teapot. Does a real, life size teapot even cost that much? That is really outrageous! I say go for the Walmart version. Not that I'm a fan of Walmart but if it's going to save you 300 bones...know what I mean??
